Gospel Pentecost

A reading from the holy Gospel according to John         John 20:19-23

On the first day of the week, in the evening the disciples gathered together in the room.  The doors were closed because they were afraid of the Jews.  Jesus came and stood among them.  He said to them, “Peace be with you.”  He showed them his hands and his side.  The disciples were filled with joy when they saw the Lord.  Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you.  My Father sent me, so in the same way I send you.”

After saying this, Jesus breathe on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit.  If you forgive people’s sins, their sins are forgiven.  If you do not forgive them, their sins are not forgiven.”

This is the Gospel of the Lord
