Gospel Sunday 33 A

A reading from the holy Gospel according to Matthew.       Matthew 25:14-30.

Jesus told this parable to his disciples, “The kingdom of heaven is like a master that decided to go abroad.  Before he left, he told his servants to look after his house and his land.  Because each servant had different skills, the master gave five gold coins to the first servant, two gold coins to the second servant, and one gold coin to the third servant.  Then the master went away.”

After a long time, the master came home.  The master asked each servant what they had done with his money.  The first servant said, ‘Master you gave me five gold coins.  I made a profit of five more gold coins.’  The master said, ‘Well done!  You are a good and faithful servant.  You did well with small things, so now I will trust you with bigger things.  Come and share with me my happiness.'”

This is the Gospel of the Lord.
