Gospel Seventh Sunday of Easter

Gospel Seventh Sunday of Easter

A reading according to the Gospel of John                     John 17:1-11.

Jesus looked up to heaven and said, “Father, now is the time.  Give glory to your Son so that your Son can give glory to you.  You gave power to your Son, so that your Son can give eternal life to all those people that you gave him.  What is eternal life?  Eternal life means people can know you, the only true God, and also know Jesus Christ, the One you sent.  I have finished the work you gave me to do and I have given you glory on earth.  Father, give me the glory now.  Give me the glory I had with you before the world was created.

I have told these apostles about you, and helped them to know your name.  They were your people and you gave them to me.  They have followed your word.  Now at last they know that everything that I have is from you.  I gave these people the teaching you gave me.  They accepted this teaching.  They know that I truly came from you.  They believed that you sent me.

I pray for them.  I am not praying for the world, but I am praying for these apostles you gave me, because they are yours.  Everything I have is yours and everything you have is mine.  My glory is shown through these apostles.  I will not stay in the world, but these apostles are still here in the world.  Now I am coming to you.
