A reading from the holy Gospel according to Matthew. Matthew 22:34-40
The Pharisees heard that Jesus had said things that made the Sadducees quiet, so they met together. One of the Sadducees asked Jesus a question to try and make him confused. He said, “Master, which commandment in the Law is the most important?” Jesus said, “You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the first and most important. The second commandment is: You must love your neighbor the same as you love yourself. The full Law of Moses and the teachings of the Prophets come from these two commandments.”
This is the Gospel of the Lord.
